ASSITEJ, International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People

ASSITEJ brings people together so that they can share knowledge and practice within the field of theatre for children and young people in order to deepen understandings, develop practice, create new opportunities and strengthen the global sector, on behalf of all children everywhere

The Israeli branch was founded about fifty years ago by Mrs. Orna Porat, who

was also one of the founders of the world organization.

The purpose of Assitej Israel is to promote the socio-cultural status of theaters

and professional creators for children and youth in Israel, and to develop

connections with Assitej centers around the world.

Assitej's main goal is to promote the status of children's theaters, and artists in

the theater for children and youth, while constantly striving for the recognition, by

the country's cultural establishment, of the importance of the field of theater for

young audiences. Another goal is obtaining public support and financial

resources.
